Finding Your Style…Long Hair

“People say women shouldn’t have long hair over a certain age, but I’ve never done what everyone says.” Jane Seymour

Long hair in older women has always been a hot debate. To be honest I don’t really get it because you were born with the hair you have and no style or fashion trend can change that. Your hairstyle should be about the shape of your face and your lifestyle not your age according to most hairstylists.

Women’s hair changes as they age. Some women who had thick hair when they were young have about half that amount by the time they reach their mid fifties. Taking care of your hair as you get older is the best way to ensure shiny, healthy hair.

Deep condition once a week. I know you have heard this before but it is so important to bring shine back to dull damaged hair.

Use hair products that are for your hair type.

Try to avoid blow drying more than twice a week.

Use a flat iron only for special occasions to prevent breakage.

A haircut every 4-6 weeks gets rid of split ends and keeps hair healthy.

We can over look the fact that the women above are professionally made up and, perhaps even airbrushed, but you have to admit they look great with long hair over 50.
